After a China-first launch in February, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is finally available in global markets. This is Xiaomi's most aggressive play for the premium segment yet — and the Leica camera system gives it a genuine claim to the photography crown.
Leica Summilux quad cameras
The camera system is co-engineered with Leica and uses the Summilux branding (Leica's highest-tier lens designation):
- Main: 50MP Sony LYT-900, 1-inch sensor, f/1.63 Summilux lens, OIS
- Ultrawide: 50MP, f/2.0, 128-degree field of view
- Telephoto 1: 50MP periscope, 3x optical
- Telephoto 2: 200MP periscope, 5x optical, f/2.6
Yes, that is four rear cameras, including two periscope telephoto lenses at different focal lengths. The 1-inch main sensor captures extraordinary detail, and Leica's color science gives images a signature film-like quality that Samsung and Apple do not replicate. Two Leica color profiles are available: Leica Authentic (true-to-life) and Leica Vibrant (punchy, saturated).
Battery and charging: a new standard
The 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is the largest in any flagship phone currently on the market. Xiaomi rates it for over 15 hours of video playback. Charging speeds are equally impressive:
- 90W wired: 0-100% in 30 minutes
- 50W wireless: 0-100% in 50 minutes
- 10W reverse wireless charging
In our early testing, the 15 Ultra consistently lasted a full day and a half of mixed use — comfortably more than any competing flagship including the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Performance and display
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite
- RAM: 16GB LPDDR5X
- Storage: 256GB / 512GB / 1TB UFS 4.0
- Display: 6.73-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED, 1-120Hz, 3,200 nits peak
The display is one of the best in the industry — sharp, color-accurate, and blindingly bright outdoors. The in-display fingerprint reader is fast and accurate.
HyperOS 2.5
Xiaomi's HyperOS 2.5 is a significant improvement over MIUI. The interface is cleaner, bloatware is minimal in global ROMs, and the cross-device ecosystem (linking Xiaomi tablets, watches, and laptops) is genuinely useful. Xiaomi promises 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
Global pricing
- 256GB: $1,099
- 512GB: $1,249
- 1TB: $1,399
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra competes head-on with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. At $100 less than either competitor, it offers more camera hardware and a bigger battery. See our Xiaomi 15 Ultra product page for full specs.
