How We Compare
Methodology v1.0 — April 2026
Where we get our data
All specifications come from manufacturer-published data sheets and official product pages. We cross-reference with established databases including GSMArena, RTINGS, and manufacturer press releases. Prices reflect official MSRP at launch; we update them when manufacturers announce price changes.
How scores work
Each product is evaluated across key categories relevant to its type. For phones, these include Display, Performance, Camera, Battery, Value, Software, and Build Quality. Each category is scored on a 10-point scale based on how the product’s specifications compare to the current market.
The overall score is a weighted average of category scores. Categories are weighted by real-world importance: Camera and Display are weighted more heavily for phones, while Performance and Build are weighted more for laptops.
How we pick the winner
The product with the higher overall score wins. When scores are within 0.3 points, we consider value-for-money (price relative to spec advantage) to break the tie. If one product costs significantly less while offering comparable specs, it gets the edge.
We declare a tie only when both products genuinely excel in different areas with no clear overall advantage.
How verdicts are written
Comparison verdicts are generated by analyzing the spec differences, score gaps, and price-to-value ratios between two products. The verdict focuses on the most meaningful differences — the specs that actually affect daily use — rather than listing every difference.
How often we update
New products are added within one week of official announcement with confirmed specifications. Prices are verified monthly. The “Updated” date on each comparison page shows when the specs were last verified.
What we don’t do
- We don’t accept payment to influence scores or winners.
- We don’t have affiliate relationships that affect rankings.
- We don’t fabricate user counts, review counts, or traffic numbers.
- We don’t cherry-pick specs to favor any brand.
