Samsung is pushing tablet screens to their logical extreme. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra features a 15.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display — larger than most laptops — paired with flagship-tier internals and Samsung's full productivity software suite.
Display: the main event
The 15.6-inch panel is the largest AMOLED display Samsung has put on any mobile device:
- Resolution: 2960 x 1848 (16:10 aspect ratio)
- Refresh rate: 1-120Hz LTPO
- Brightness: 930 nits typical, 1,800 nits peak HDR
- Color: 100% DCI-P3, Delta E < 1.0
- Anti-glare coating: Reduced reflections for outdoor use
At this size, the Tab S11 Ultra is less a tablet and more a portable monitor with a touch screen and built-in computing. Samsung positions it for digital artists, video editors, and professionals who want a single device for creative work and media consumption.
Performance
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy
- RAM: 16GB LPDDR5X (12GB on the base model)
- Storage: 256GB / 512GB / 1TB
- Battery: 11,200mAh with 45W charging
The Snapdragon 8 Elite makes the Tab S11 Ultra the most powerful Android tablet available. In our early benchmark testing, it matched or exceeded the performance of the iPad Pro M4 13 in GPU-heavy tasks, though Apple's M4 chip still leads in sustained CPU workloads.
S Pen and productivity
The S Pen is included in the box (unlike Apple's separate Pencil purchase) and supports:
- 4,096 pressure levels
- Tilt recognition
- Air Actions for remote control
- Handwriting-to-text with AI-enhanced recognition
Samsung's DeX desktop mode turns the Tab S11 Ultra into a functional laptop replacement when paired with the Book Cover Keyboard ($349, sold separately). DeX now supports resizable windows, a full taskbar, and improved multi-monitor output via USB-C.
Software
One UI 7.1 for tablets brings:
- Multi-window: Up to 4 apps simultaneously on the 15.6-inch display
- Galaxy AI features: Circle to Search, Note Assist, AI-powered photo editing
- Samsung Notes: Enhanced with AI handwriting cleanup and translation
- Clip Studio Paint optimized for the Tab S11 Ultra (pre-installed trial)
Samsung promises 7 years of OS updates and security patches, matching its flagship phone commitment.
Camera system
- Rear: 13MP main + 8MP ultrawide
- Front: 12MP + 12MP ultrawide (for video calls)
The cameras are adequate for document scanning and video calls, but this is not a device you buy for photography. The dual front cameras support Portrait Video for professional-looking video calls.
Pricing and competition
- 256GB / 12GB RAM: $1,199
- 512GB / 16GB RAM: $1,419
- 1TB / 16GB RAM: $1,659
The Tab S11 Ultra competes directly with the iPad Pro M4 13-inch ($1,299) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra ($1,199 at launch, now discounted). The screen size advantage and included S Pen make the Samsung a strong value proposition for Android users.
