Xiaomi 12 and 14 Pro represent different market positions within Xiaomi's flagship lineup. The 12 delivers solid 2022 performance with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 120Hz AMOLED display at 1100 nits, and capable 50MP main camera with OIS. Its 4500mAh battery supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging in a compact 180g frame. However, the 14 Pro ($1099) substantially outclasses it across nearly every dimension. The newer processor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3) offers meaningfully faster performance, while the display jumps to QHD+ resolution with dramatically superior 3000-nit peak brightness and LTPO technology for efficiency. Camera hardware is considerably upgraded: the main sensor features f/1.42 variable aperture with larger 1/1.31" size, complemented by a dedicated 50MP 3.2x telephoto that the 12 lacks entirely. Battery capacity increases to 4880mAh with double the wired charging speed (120W). The 14 Pro adds IP68 dust/water resistance, USB 3.2, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 versus the 12's USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 6. Weight penalty is notable at 223g versus 180g. At $350 price difference, the 14 Pro justifies its cost through significantly better cameras, display, processing power, and durability.
